New Yarn: Flock Fibres

April 22, 2017

Another great find at Fibres West was a lovely two-gal operation from Calgary Alberta known as Flock Fibre Studio. With an adventurous use of colours, speckles and saturation these unique yarns have been steadily finding new homes going home with our customers!

Flock Fibre Studios brings a beautiful palette of speckles and solids to the West Coast!

Flock Fibre Studio is a partnership founded in friendship and a mutual love of all things woolly. Owners Kim & Nikki met over five years ago at a small weekly knit night in Calgary where they discovered a shared love of hand dyed yarn. That mutual wool obsession has led us through sock knitting competitions, spinning classes, international travel and pattern designing. Last year their next woolly adventure, Flock Fibre Studio, was born.

Check how nicely their colours play together in this version of the Waiting for Rain shawl.

The ladies at Flock Fibre Studio are passionate about experimenting with techniques and colour in our dyeing. With a goal is to create yarn that is not only beautiful to look at but also interesting and fun to knit, many here at Baaad Anna’s have become smitten.

With a love of discovering new local talent, we are thrilled to be the first store to bring this yarn to the Lower Mainland!

We brought on two of their fingering-weight bases: Lone Pine Singles and Take a Hike Sock. With a five-star rating from over 200 reviews on their etsy site, Baaad Anna’s is thrilled to be able to bring another home-grown Canadian talent to our own flock!

The Lone Pine Singles is a lofty single ply that creates the most smoochy next-to-skin soft shawls.
