NEW workshops and classes

New Kids Classes
We are excited to start our ongoing kids fibre arts classes.   We offer classes for kids age 6 – 12 years of age. Some materials are included
When: Sun – Nov 14th, 21st, 28th, Dec 5th
Time: 1 – 2pm
Cost: $45

November 14 & 21 – KNITTING
Knitting is easy and fun, time to pick up two sticks and see what you can do, learn to create something cool for yourself or your friends! The basics including, casting on, knitting and binding off will be taught in this class!
Materials Needed: Pair of 6.5mm needles. Yarn is provided.

November 28 – FELTING
Get your hands wet in this class. Learn the basics of felting, and walk away with a cool project to wear too! Using wool, warm water and soap we will create with wild colors and soft fibers!
Materials Needed: Rubber gloves. Fibre is provided.

December 5 – FIBRE DYEING
Ever wondered how sheep’s wool can be so many fantastic colors?
Materials Needed: Bring your rubber gloves for this class, cause we are going to be dunking, tying and wringing.




Socks With Patti – Intermediate
Dates: Fridays, November 5th & 19th, December 3rd
Time: 7pm – 9pm
Cost: $65 – $85 (+hst) sliding scale
Instructor: Patti Mclaughlin

The basics of sock knitting will be taught over the course of three evening classes. The basics include; mastering knitting on double pointed needles, turning a heel and grafting a toe. Participants must know how to cast on, knit and purl to take this class. Minimum 5 participants and maximum 8.

Materials needed: One set of 2.25mm double pointed needles and one 100g ball of sock yarn. Supplies can be purchased at Baaad Anna’s.





Beginner Crochet
When: Saturday’s   November 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th
Time: 2pm – 4pm
Cost: $
Instructor: Hilary Jones

Crochet is a lot easier than you think. Its versatility and endless creative possibilities make it a favorite among many handcrafters. This class will teach the basics of crochet including: making a chain, working in the round and three of the most common stitches. The project for this class will be a simple beanie.

Materials needed: Chunky weight yarn and 6mm (j) crochet hook




Felt of the Month Workshop

Play food is a great thing to have in the playroom, but why get the plastic stuff? Felted wool can be sculpted to any shape you like, and you’ll get toys that are warm to the touch, durable, non-toxic, and beautiful. In this 2-hour workshop, you’ll learn the basics of needle felting and make a few pieces of play food to take home.

This workshop is intended for adults, but children from 8-12 are welcome if accompanied by an adult who is also taking the class (those 13 and up do not need to be accompanied). Each participant pays for the workshop separately, but may share materials and tools if they wish. You will need to have rubber gloves, a needle felting tool, and a needle felting mat (the latter two available from the store).

Drop Spindle – Beginner
Date: Monday   December 6th, 13th
Time: 1 – 2:30pm
Cost: $50 (+hst)   INCLUDES 100g blue faced Leicester roving
Instructor: Kirsten Zerbini

Make your own yarn! Learning to spin your own, unique yarn is fun and easy. In this 3 hour session, you’ll learn how to make a basic, single-ply yarn from prepared fibre to finished skein. come and Play!

Materials Needed: Drop Spindle

Optional: If you have a niddy-noddy you may bring it, otherwise you’ll be shown how to wind yarn off your arm for finishing. If you have a small, cloth-lined basket, you may wish to bring it to hold your fiber.

  1. OH! A drop-spinning course! I would sign up in a heartbeat if it was on a weekend – I will keep an eye on the blog to see if one comes up!
