Love this hood……

March 1, 2012

I’m gonna pause for a moment, from my usual ramblings about two of my favorite things (knitting and my son) and talk about our neighbourhood! This week I have been particularly thankful for all the great things in the Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood. Now many of you who frequent Baaad Anna’s are community folk, and you walk or ride to the store, so there is a good chance that you have already discovered the other amazing things here! However, I know some of you are from elsewhere and probably haven’t checked out all the gems in this ‘hood!

I felt inspired to write, after visiting our NEWEST business that opened up just a few weeks ago Long Live Cats and Dogs! A baaad ass pet supply shop on Hastings St. at Garden. So excited that they have joined the neighbourhood,

and the folks who own the store seem like a perfect addition to the hood.

If you enjoy good food, then of course you have to check out the Red Wagon Cafe and the Roundel Cafe. I know many of the Baaad Anna’s regulars enjoy sushi at Toby’s Teriyaki a mere 10 steps away from their favorite yarn store, and of course for delicious coffee, sandwiches, cinnamon buns and fantastic community, there is the Laughing Bean – you really can’t go wrong there!

Now if you are pregnant, or have kids, or have kids in your life, then you are in luck! Pomegranate Midwives are some of the most fantastic, beautiful, capable women I know, and thankfully I don’t have to walk very far for the best prenatal care! A little further down the road is the quaint and totally fantastic Little Earth kids, babies, and consignment store – it’s also a great place to stop by on a rainy day, as their ‘kidzone’ is awesome! If you are pregnant then you should most

definitely check out the pre-natal yoga at Sage Yoga.

Speaking of yoga, Green Room Yoga is a fantastic yoga studio and will meet all your yoga needs, and is a total Hastings-Sunrise staple! Finally, a big shout out to the fantastic Miscellany Finds, a great consignment clothing, furniture and other great items. They also have a fantastic socially responsible ethic to their business – love these ladies!

So these are some of my favorite’s, but I know I’ve missed some, what are your favorite hot spots in our great neighbourhood??
