Got Cotton?
ok…raise your hand if you knit/crochet with cotton in the summer? If you aren’t a summer knitter – read this and maybe reconsider! I see a few trends every year….some folks just knit with everything all year long – their pace doesn’t abate even a bit during the summer. The other trend is experimenting with other fibre’s: cotton, linen, hemp, synthetics….so over the next few weeks we will be highlighting some of the fantastic fibre’s we have in the shop, that might be perfect for your summer knitting!
About a year ago we started carrying the Universal Yarn Cotton (worsted) it is a beautiful 100% cotton yarn in some fantastic colours, 165m and 100gr. This year they have put out the DK – 211m/100g! We have some fantastic pastel spring-time colours, and a great selection of Worsted! Both these yarns will be 15% off from today; Saturday, May 18th until Saturday, May 25th!
I just finished a tweaked version of the Chevron Baby Blanket by Purl Bee. I did not hold the yarn double because I only wanted a small stroller sized blanket! This one is being mailed off the my newest nephew Stanley. I love the deep colours of this blanket, and the simple, yet lovely design! It is a free pattern, and knits up quickly for the little one in your life!

Wow Lisa those fan-art pieces are super cool. I just pinned the Ginsberg one on my Pinterest. http://pinterest.com/susanmain/ – as for using cotton, I tried my first double-knitting project with it and made a pot holder. The double knit will keep the heat away from fingers.
I like knitting little fan-art figurines out of cotton and hemp. There are a few pics here:
