Year of the Horse Pattern Inspiration

Lunar new year is coming right up, and we are looking forward to the Year of the Horse. We’ve already seen horse motifs everywhere, so we thought we’d share a pattern round up of some of the coolest horse patterns we can find!

Caitlin Hunter has many horse-themed patterns, but her Neigh Sweater is one of my favourites. We recently restocked our Wollmeise DK, and have so many different colour options for this pattern. She also has a full body colourwork sweater called Ghost Horses. Her sample is knit in Spincycle Dyed in the Wool, and I think the Les Gascon British Sport would make a great main colour!

I was really blown away by the Horses Scarf by Elijah Dyson. It’s a beautiful crochet colourwork pattern that creates a sort of animation of horses running along the length of it. It’s worked up in fingering weight yarn, of which we have so many options. I think I’d make it in our Bramble Ridge Sock, just because we’ve recently got some really nice solids in.

If a sweater is too big a horse project to commit to, these Gallop Through the Woods socks by Lumi Karmitsa might scratch the horse itch. Any main colour will do, but we have a few Sweet Georgia Sock Yarn Blanks that would make a perfect gradient.

I hope we can all embody and enjoy the energy that the Year of the Horse brings! If you end up making any horse-related patterns we’d love to see them! You can always tag us in your photos and comments on instagram at @baaadannas, we love seeing everything you do!
