Knitting

Baaad Anna’s offers several classes with a sliding scale fee, which are affordable and respect our instructors’ work. When you register, please pay according to your income. Thank you.


Beginner Knitting

This is a beginner knitting class for anyone who has never picked up needles, or for someone who is looking for a beginner refresher. Participants will learn the basics including casting on, knitting, purling and casting off. The class project will be a choice between simple  hat, scarf, or arm warmers.

Minimum 3 participants and max 8

The class runs for 3 weeks  (6 hours altogether) and includes a Baaad Anna’s beginner handout.

Materials needed: One pair of 6mm needles and 100g of a chunky weight yarn. Materials can be purchased at Baaad Anna’s Yarn Store.

DATES: Tuesdays, Sept 5, 12 & 19th from 6:00-8:00pm

OR  Thursdays, Oct 12, 19  & 26th from 6:00-8:00pm

Beyond the Basics

For knitters that are comfortable with the basic stitches. You have a pattern or project that you want to tackle and you need to learn some more skills.

Minimum 3 participants and maximum 8

Materials needed: Bring a pattern and materials as needed. Materials can be purchased at Baaad Anna’s Yarn Store. Please visit before the start of the first class if you have not chosen a pattern or yarn. Our staff will be happy to help you.

DATES: Thursdays, Sept 7, 14 & 21 from 6:00-8:00pm

OR Tuesdays, Oct 3, 10, 17 & 24th from 6:00-7:30pm

Knit a Lace Stole

Knitting has been described as making loops – also knots.  Lace knitting could be described as making holes – on purpose! While knitting a stole, a rectangular shawl, you will learn the basics of lace work:

  • Recommended cast-on for a shawl edge,
  • Pattern following for written & chart instructions, and
  • Practices to protect and correct your work.

You can also expand your lace knitting experience:

  • New methods to start your shawl,
  • Shaping with short rows,
  • Adding beads to your project,
  • Finishing with intricate edgings, and
  • Creating texture with nupps.

Materials needed: Bring 2 skeins of Fingering weight yarn. stitch markers, and needles for gauge. Materials can be purchased at Baaad Anna’s Yarn Store.

Fixing Common Mistakes

Description:  Isn’t knitting supposed to be relaxing??
Learn how to get yourself out of a knitting related disaster and get back on track.

Picking up dropped stitches, un-knitting (cleverly known as TINKing) and other common
fixes will be covered in this 3hr workshop.

Kids Learn to Knit

Do you want to learn to knit? Learn new skills? Or make fun projects?

Kids Learn to Knit

Min 3 and max 8 participants for students from Kindergarten—age 5—through Grade 7.

In this project based class, you will learn how to knit—if you don’t already know—and/or learn new techniques while working on cool and simple projects like scarves, cowls, fingerless gloves or toys. Each kid knits what they want based on interest and skill level while being guided in a fun and engaging group of knitters and friends. All levels welcome.

An interactive welcome booklet will be provided for each student at the beginning of the first class. Patterns/project ideas will be supplied for students based on their skill level & interest.

Materials needed: One pair of straight knitting needles—5 mm (US 8) to 8 mm (US 11)—and yarn—worsted to chunky weight. Materials can be purchased at Baaad Anna’s Yarn Store. Amanda will be available to help 30 minutes prior to the first class.

Scissors & tapestry needles will be provided for class time use.

My First Sweater

You are comfortable with the knit and purl stitches and now would like to try knitting your first sweater!   In this introductory sweater class, Holli will guide you through the process.

Materials needed: Bring a pattern of your choice and materials as needed. Materials can be purchased at Baaad Anna’s Yarn Store. Please visit before the start of the first class if you have not chosen a pattern or yarn. Our staff will be happy to help you.
