Coming Up:
Beginner Knitting Class – In Person
DATES: Thursday’s October 5, 12, 19 and 26th from 6:00-7:30pm.
This is a beginner knitting class for anyone who has never picked up needles, or for someone who is looking for a beginner refresher. Participants will learn the basics including casting on, knitting, purling and casting off. The class project will be a cozy pair of slippers.
The class runs over four weeks in person at Baaad Anna’s, please arrive 15 minutes before the start of class or earlier if you would like time to browse.
Baaad supports the wearing of masks whilst respecting everyone’s personal choice.
Materials (Included in the cost)
- One pair of 4.5mm bamboo needles
- 100g of a worsted weight yarn. *Please indicate your preferred colour from the choices shown when registering.
- Darning needle for finishing

Beginner Hat – On the C Train Class
DATES: Wednesday’s October 4, 11 and 18th from 6:00-8:00 pm.

Want to build on your basic knitting skills? The On The C Train Hat by Espace Tricot is the perfect next step pattern!
Learn to knit a classic ribbed style toque in the round on circular needles or DPNs, we will also cover how to determine the perfect length and fit, add a brim, shape for the crown and cinch up the top of your hat for finishing or adding a pom pom.
Knit with 1 strand of worsted weight wool and 1 strand of lace weight mohair your finished hat will keep you cozy & warm all winter long. Also, makes a wonderful Christmas gift too!
Prerequisites: Beginner knitting skills; Student should be able to cast on, knit, purl & cast off.

Notes on Yarn Options:
The pattern calls for one strand of Worsted weight yarn held together with one strand of Lace weight Mohair, but if someone is sensitive to mohair, suri alpaca would be a nice alternative. Alternatively you can hold a single strand of aran weight yarn as listed below.
- 130 m (143y) of Worsted weight yarn (192 m/210y for a folded brim) such as Cascade Anthem or Malabrigo Rios and 130 m (143y) AND of Lace weight mohair (192 m/210y for a folded brim) such as Pro Lana Kid Seta held double. ∼OR∼
- 130 m (143y) of Aran weight yarn (192 m/210y for a folded brim) held single such as DROPS Big Merino or DROPS Air.
- 4.5 mm (US 7) 16” circular knitting needles (or DPNs)
- 5 mm (US 8) 16” circular knitting needles (or DPNs)
- 5 mm (US 8) DPNs needed for crown shaping
- Stitch markers, darning needle & scissors

Sock Boot Camp Workshop
DATES: Sunday October 22nd form 9:30-12:30 pm.
Learn the basics of sock knitting in 3 hours while knitting a cuff down mini sock!
Broken down into easy-to-follow segments you will learn: the anatomy of a sock, how to turn a heal, shape a gusset, determine the right size/length for your sock and shape a toe.
Students with leave the workshop with all the skills they need & a pattern to knit a pair of adult socks.
- Student can Knit, Purl, Increase & Decrease and have some experience knitting in the round.
- The pattern is both written for and taught using double pointed needles. If your preference for small diameter is magic loop that is fine so long as you are very experienced with that method.
Materials Needed:
- 4.5 mm(US7)Double Pointed Needles (DPNs)
- 25 g Worsted weight yarn such as Cascade Anthem or Cascade 220 or yarn similar from your stash. We recommend choosing a lighter colour yarn for learning.
- Stitch Markers

Beyond the Basics Knitting Class
DATES: Monday’s November 6, 20 and 27th from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Do you have a knitting project you want to start, but need some guidance to get it right? Are you struggling with a project on your needles and need some help to take the next steps? This class is for you!
No need to abandon a project when help is here!
Materials Needed: Bring a pattern and materials as your project requires. Please call or email If you need help choosing a pattern or yarn a few days in advance of your class. Our staff will be happy to help you.
*No intarsia projects for this session please.

Saturday/Sunday Shrug Class
DATES: Sunday’s November 12th and 26th from 9:30 am-12:30 pm.

There’s nothing cozier and more stylish than a striped ribbed Shrug. Come learn how to knit the Saturday/Sunday Shrug (a wildly popular pattern by Jackie Rose! No swatches needed!
This pattern is a basic canvas for a ribbed shrug knit in the round and you bring the creativity (will you add stripes, mix yarns, or marl colours? It’s up to you!)
Students will learn every step of the pattern including: the seamless Tubular Cast on & Cast Off, how to knit in the round, plan out your stripes, marl or colour changes and the trick to knitting jogless stripes in the round!
Warning: knitting shrugs is highly addictive and they also make wonderful gifts.

The pattern calls for either one strand of Worsted or one strand of Bulky weight yarn held together with one strand of Lace weight Mohair, but if someone is sensitive to mohair, suri alpaca would be a nice alternative. Alternatively one could knit holding a single strand of the appropriate weight for the pattern.
The possibilities are endless for these two patterns and the staff at Baaad Anna’s are on hand to help with any questions you may have.

- Saturday Shrug
- 320-420m (350-450y) each of both Worsted + Lace weight = Bulky. Total Yarn needed: 637- 834m (696-912y). Such as Cascade 220 and Leo & Roxy Mohair/Silk.
- US 9 / 5.5mm Circular Needles 32”
∼or∼
- Sunday Shrug (Bulky + Aran weight = Super Bulky) 549 – 673 m / 600 – 736 yards in Total.
- 375m(337y) each of both Bulky and Aran weight such as Cascade Eco/Eco+ and Drops Air.
- US 15 / 10.0 mm Circular Needles 32”
∼and∼
- Crochet Hook (similar or smaller in size to needle) & 1 meter of waste yarn for Tubular Cast On
- Darning needle, Stitch markers, scissors
- A copy of either the Saturday or Sunday Shrug – available to download for free on Ravelry.
