Free Hat Pattern
Casapinka, the wonderful designer that offers a LYS Day pattern every year has put out a beautiful hat pattern on Ravelry free of charge in hopes that we can collectively put some love in our stitches, and share the warmth. Earlier this week I posted about the Warmth for Ukraine project that we will be collecting hats and mitts for, and this seems like a great DK weight pattern for just this purpose.
Here is Casapinka’s project description:
Let’s knit some hats for our fellow humans from Ukraine. Gift one to a friend and wear yours in solidarity and support.
The Ripples Make Waves pattern is free but please consider donating the price of a pattern to a charity if you can; here are the three we have suggested in the pattern. Don’t forget to ask your employer if they are matching donations; many are! Remember that small amounts can really add up and do a lot of good so your $6 donation can really help. Ripples make waves in a LOT of ways.
World Central Kitchen
Center for Disaster Philanthropy
Global Giving (Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund.)
The top of the hat is representative of a sunflower, the national flower of Ukraine (see left.) I hope that you enjoy knitting this hat and are able to do it with friends or family as we are all think about our fellow humans in this dire situation. We might feel helpless but any small thing we can do to show some humanity is a good thing.
Materials – one skein of DK yarn, 225 yards (24”).
As with all free patterns, we urge you to go directly to the designer’s pattern link (via Ravelry or on their own website), but for this one if you are having issues accessing it, please feel free to come in-store and we can help you access a copy over the next week as we collect hats.
