Staff Project – Pink Velvet by Andrea Mowry

It’s time for another exciting staff project showcase here at Baaad Annas, and we’re thrilled to introduce you to the mesmerizing “Pink Velvet” by the incredibly talented Andrea Mowry. This round yoke sweater with stranded colorwork is a true masterpiece, and we can’t wait to share our journey with you.

“Pink Velvet” is not just a sweater; it’s a work of art. Andrea Mowry’s design blends elegance, coziness, and creativity seamlessly. The colorwork in this pattern adds a touch of magic and cosy luxury.

One of the remarkable aspects of “Pink Velvet” is its inclusivity. The pattern offers nine different sizes, making it accessible to a wide range of body types.

The heart of any knitting project lies in selecting the perfect yarn. For “Pink Velvet,” i opted for Small Bird Workshop fingering-weight yarn that would allow the colorwork to shine. This is a delicious 80% Falkland Cormo/20% mulberry silk fingering-weight 4-ply yarn. Cormo wool is soft, bouncy and elastic, an excellent alternative to merino wool. Silk adds shine and drape to an otherwise very springy yarn, while the contrasting Bramble Ridge Suri Alpaca Lace added a perfect blend of suri alpaca and silk, this lace weight yarn adds a touch of luxury to the project.

Creating “Pink Velvet” was a journey filled with joy, creativity, and anticipation. The intricate colorwork and the rhythmic flow of knitting brought a sense of accomplishment with each completed row. And, of course, the anticipation of wearing this stunning creation was the icing on the cake.

Visit Baaad Annas to explore the perfect yarn for your “Pink Velvet” project and gather all the tools you need to get started. Share your progress with us and let’s celebrate the artistry of knitting together.

am knitting a shawl with it right now and it is a delight to knit with and my colour is fantastic.
I can tell already that once i block it it will have a lovely drape without being floppy.
