Beginner Spinning with Crafty JAK’s
Picture this BAAADies: You’re sitting at a spinning wheel, a warm mug beside you, fleece in your hands, and the soothing rhythm of twist and treadle pulling soft, colourful wool into life. It’s meditative. It’s ancestral. It’s a little witchy. And don’t worry, we all start out a little BAAAD.
Join us in June for a BAAAD-ass experiencee, we’re inviting you to learn the ancient, joyful art of spinning your own yarn in a four-week beginner series. No experience needed, just a love of fibre and the curiosity to follow the twist.
Your guide on this woolly quest? None other than Katrina of Crafty Jak’s Boutique – fibre artist, dyer, and spinning whisperer. With her calm guidance and infectious love of the craft, Katrina will walk you through everything from making your first singles to plying and finishing your yarn, all the way to measuring and actually using it in your next project.
What You Get:
- A four-week rental of an Ashford Two Treadle Kiwi Spinning Wheel
- 150g of Corriedale wool in two colours of your choice (and yes, they’re beautiful)
- All the encouragement, laughs, and aha moments that come with learning a new craft in a cozy, supportive group
Already have a wheel? You’re welcome to bring it, just make sure it’s in good working order with at least 3 bobbins. If you’re unsure, give us a shout before registering.
