NeighbourHOOD MAL Pattern Round Up

With our NeighbourHOOD MAL start date less than a week away, I thought I would share some different hood knitting patterns with you. You can find them all in this Ravelry pattern bundle!

The Ripple Balaclava by Jessie Maed Designs is a perfect, functional base layer for those chilly February walks! It’s small enough to fit under a jacket, and the mohair the pattern calls for will keep you super toasty. This hood would look so lovely in our Mailles a Part fingering and suri lace– lots of classy colours for a put-together look.

My Jose Hood from Norgardknit looks like the yummiest, warmest hug. It has ties at the end and wraps around to create the ultimate cocoon. The pattern calls for aran weight yarn, and we’ve got two cheap and cheerful options for you. If you’re looking for that fuzz, you could go  with Drops Air, or there’s always everyone’s favourite workhorse yarn: Cascade 220

The Hoodola has been very popular in store, lots of customers looking for the yarn to make this snood/hood combo. The hood on this pattern is very generous in size, which is great if you’re looking to keep your head warm while protecting your curls or bangs from hat head. It’s worked up in a DK weight yarn, which we have so much of in-store! I’d probably go with the Les Garçon British DK, just because the marled effect would be so nice. The sample in this photo is knit up using a tweed, like our Fireweed Wood Lily Tweed DK.

We would love to hear what pattern you’re choosing to join us with, so leave a comment down below! I’m sure whatever hood you end up choosing will be perfect! Hope to see you on one of our Knit Nights, but if you can’t make it, you can participate from home by tagging us in your social media posts (@baaadannas) or using the hashtag #BAYSNeighbourHOODMAL. I’m so excited to see what project everyone is getting started on.
