Holiday Fibre Arts

Felted and crochet holiday ornaments are fun to create and make wonderful gifts.  They are fun, easy to pop in the post, kid friendly and bring the love, colour and beauty of hand made fibre arts to the home.

We have two Online via Zoom Workshops coming up to get you started with Felted Holiday Gnomes which is great for kids as well, and Crochet Snowflakes.

Hats and wrist warmers also make great gift ideas and our project based Beyond the Basics Intro to Colourwork and Beyond the Basics Knitting In The Round classes will provide you with skills and support for making the fabulous colourwork Clayoquot Toque by Tin Can Knits or Rebecca Glazier’s beautiful  SpinYouRound Wristwarmers.

 


Learn To Needle Felt  Workshop-Online Via Zoom

Join us for this 3-hour workshop online to learn a new art!  Needle felting is quick and fun way to create three dimensional fibre art pieces.

Baaad Anna’s is happy to welcome local artist Mel Broome to come teach the basics of needle felting. Participants will learn: the basics of 3D needle felting, the tricks to creating a fine finish on your work, how to mix and shape wool like a pro. No previous felting experience necessary.  Ages 7 and up!

MATERIALS INCLUDED:

  • 50g Roving Fibre
  • 2 Medium felting needles
  • 1 Felting Block

Nov Dates: Sunday November 22nd from 10:00am to 1:00pm PST ∼or∼

Beginner Crochet Snowflake Workshop – Online via Zoom

This is a beginner class for someone who has never crochet before or is looking for a refresher. Participants will learn the basic stitches for crochet including;chain, slip stitch, single, double and triple crochet.  The class project will a beautiful crochet snowflake just in time for decorating your home for the holidays.

Beyond the Basics: Intro to Colourwork – Online via ZOOM

Come join Rebecca for this class of colour exploration as you work on the Clayoquot Toque pattern by local designers Tin Can Knits, the perfect hat for all seasons here on the West Coast.

In this project based class you will be introduced to Fair Isle knitting, also known as stranded colourwork, chart reading, knitting in the round and decreasing . Please have your gauge swatch completed before the first class.

Beyond the Basics: Knitting in the Round with Magic Loop Online via Zoom

Interested in knitting in the round with the magic loop?  This is a useful technique that will transfer to all your circular projects and a great benefit to small diameter knitting.  In this project based class you will make a pair of Rebecca Glazier’s own design SpinYouRound Wristwarmers.  Along with the magic loop, you will also be introduced to lace techniques with eyelets and yarn overs.
Suitable for Advanced Beginners
Skills needed: Knit, purl, cast on and bind off.
