But who is Anne Weil, and what inspired her to create Flax & Twine? Anne originally founded Flax & Twine as a blog in 2010, driven by her desire to discover her creative voice. Leaving her job in investment banking behind, she embarked on a journey of crafting, writing how-tos, and photographing her projects. Her work quickly gained recognition, appearing in prestigious publications such as Martha Stewart, Apartment Therapy, and Elle DECOR.
After years of sharing her projects online and in print, Anne decided to compile her expertise into two bestselling books: “Knitting Without Needles” and “Weaving Within Reach,” both published by Penguin Random House. However, it was her followers’ consistent inquiries about where to find materials for specific projects that sparked the idea for Flax & Twine. And thus, a hugely successful venture was born!
