NEW YARN: La Bien Aimée

The first chill of the season always brings that familiar itch – not the one from wool sweaters, but the one that whispers cast on something new. There’s rain in the forecast, leaves in the gutters, and on the shelves of our little yarn shop: a quiet bit of magic from Paris.

Since this place became my almost second home, the walls of wool have become background, a soft blur of colour I move past a dozen times a day. And yet every so often, a new arrival makes me stop and look again. The colours talk and interrupt each other: yellows cheering up greys, blues nudging oranges, a lime green sparking up beside a cerise pink. The reds, bless them, try to shout above the noise and never quite manage. It’s a living story in constant flux, no right order, no tidy harmony, just the beautiful conversation of colour.

And now, a new voice has joined the chorus.

I’ve been dropping little Easter eggs for weeks, a teasing speckle here and there, but FINALLY the secret’s out. The boxes have arrived, sealed with Parisian tape and anticipation. Inside: tissue paper sighs open, and colour spills out…. La Bien Aimée, making its West Coast debut right here in our shop.

Founded in 2015 by Aimée Gille, La Bien Aimée is an artisanal dye studio in the heart of Paris. Aimée’s yarns are hand-dyed in small batches, each skein layered with depth and light. The name means “the well-loved,” and it shows, soft, squishy, speckled, and utterly full of life.

These tones don’t shout; they glow. Think blushed lilac, mossy green, dusky peach, and pale mushroom, all kissed by the soft light of an autumn afternoon.
It’s an honour to be the first on the West Coast to welcome them.

Meet the Bases

Cashmerino (Light Fingering)

The most luxurious of the bunch, Cashmerino is a sumptuous blend of 75% Superwash Merino, 15% Cashmere, and 10% Nylon. Soft, strong, and smooth as cream, it’s ideal for shawls, sweaters, or any project meant to be treasured.
Each skein stretches 474 yards (433 m), so it goes far – perfect for larger, drapey pieces that still feel light as air.

These skeins are different. They’re the kind you reach for on a quiet Sunday morning. single skeins that turn into soft cowls, half skeins that make tiny treasures. The kind of yarn that makes you knit slower, not because you have to, but because it feels too lovely to rush.

If you’ve been waiting for an excuse to knit something purely for the joy of it, this is it.Pair them, mix them, hold them double. Let the speckles surprise you!

This dreamy French yarn is available exclusively in-store for now, so if you want to be among the first to get your hands on it, you’ll have to come see it in person. Trust us, it’s worth the trip.
