Knit City Nostalgia

If anyone need some fibre therapy this weekend there are oodles of great happenings going on. Fibre Love Affair, Vancouver’s first and fully volunteer-run online fibre fair is launching this weekend. Along with an online marketplace, they are offering free of charge zoom knit nights, yoga and wrap party/show-and-share. Virtual KnitCity is offering classes and a paid knit night with the Grocery Girls. And we are hosting an online fashion show and variety hour (noon on Saturday), showcasing our mini-home yarn store The Travelling Woolery out front of our store on Hastings St AND taking our mini-LYS on the road on Sunday to pop up at the Clayton Farmer’s Market in Langley.

And to make this weekend even more awesome, we have two new products we are excited to launch during our Zoom Fashion Show… our custom designed Be Baaad pins with a side of some potty mouth face masks to boot!

This pins were designed by a Baaad Anna’s customer for a school project; she aced her project and sold us her design! Together we created this awesomesauce…

And these facemasks are made with fabric that is locally designed by Cynthia Frenette and then sewn by a local maker Deb Baldrey Textile Arts! In addition top being the most comfortable mask I have ever worn, the potty mouth masks have some the advantage of providing feedback if someone is infiltrating your personal space, cause if they can read it and become offended, then they are obviously much too close!

If you are looking for a great fitting mask (I have a narrow bridged nose and wear glasses so am a prime candidate for getting fogged up when wearing a mask), you would be happy with these as they include extra long straps and a toggle to help with fit, as well as a metal insert to wrap around the bridge of your nose. We even have some for your viewer-discretion-advised mask-wearing needs (read: elementary school kid drop off!) in gorgeous geometric patterned fabrics which are also locally designed.

So be sure to join us this weekend, either virtually or in store, to get your fibre allowance fulfilled! Just be sure to check out the Fibre Love Affair’s website to get the pass-code to login to our Fashion Show as well all of their other happenings this weekend. And stock up in preparation for the rainy season ahead!

Also if you are feeling nostalgia to roam through the offerings of multiple indie yarn makers we can also help in that as we carry a large selection of independent and local (and often both!) at our store and eStore. Here’s an amuse bouche for the weekend…
