A Cozy Hat in New Frenzy Yarn

This week we’re featuring the Flux hat made with Classic Shades Frenzy yarn from Universal Yarns that we recently got in the store. We love a quick, one skein project and especially ones that are easy to customize. Slouchy or fitted, pom pom or no pom pom, this hat has a stitch pattern that will make any choice you make a great (and cozy!) one.

Lara, a friend of the store, models the Flux hat knit in Classic Shades Frenzy (Quarry colourway) with a Yarnboler pom pom.

Classic Shades Frenzy is a bulky weight yarn that comes in seven different colourways. It is made of a machine-washable acrylic (70%) and wool (30%) blend and is so soft to the touch. True to its name it is dyed and spun into a whirling frenzy of colour!

We whipped up a skein of Classic Shades Frenzy into a Flux hat, a pattern from Urth Yarns, that is quick and fun to knit. From beginning to end, knitting this hat took no more than four hours! Add this to your last minute gift patterns list, it’s a good one. It’s also a budget friendly yarn at only $13 a ball.

We tried the Flux hat with a big colourful Yarnboler pom pom (pictured left) as well as with a smaller, more neutral Yarnboler pom pom (pictured right) and loved how simply switching the pom poms could change the look and feel of the hat. The Yarnboler pom poms we carry are attached by a snap so you can switch your pom poms with no effort at all. It’s just one of the things we love about these locally made faux fur pom poms.
