Funding Available to Build a Fibre Library in Your Hood
Did you know the fastest way to find a fibre library in your neighbourhood is to host one yourself? And the Neighbourhood Small Grants funding could help you purchase the materials, or even purchase an already-built box to help you add one to your neighbourhood. And of course, we can help you fill it! With up to $500 available for community building projects. this quick grant application can help you spread the love of fibre arts on your block; but hurry as the application deadline is Nov 9th!
Never wrote a grant application before? We can help! Check out our Fibre Library resource page for a quick descriptor that you can use to describe the opportunity of bringing a Fibre Library to your neighbourhood, and we even have a sample budget. You will have to tweak the language and budget according to your own project needs, but please feel free to use this as a starting point to make the application easier.
If you want to build your own Fibre Library, we also include a link to a website search for open-source architecture plans! And if you prefer to support other makers, a quick search on etsy can reveal some indie woodworkers that might be able to help. If you know of any local woodworkers that would like to sell these, please let us know and we can add it to our resource page as well!
Studies show that residents who have opportunities to do meaningful or enjoyable things together are more likely to develop a sense of trust and connection where they live. This winter you can build connections and bring joy to your neighbourhood by doing something that you love. A neighbourhood small grant will provide the funds to complement your energy and enthusiasm!
- What issues do you care about?
- How would you like to bring joy to our community?
- What skills would you like to share?
- Would receiving some funds encourage you to move forward with your idea?
Take a moment in this sweater weather to consider sharing your love of fibre arts. We would be happy to help!
