NEW YARN: Area 51 Fibres
For Valentine’s Day, let’s show some love for a restock of Area 51 Fibres in store! These carefully hand dyed, self-striping yarns are the joy of any knitter who loves fun and nerdy colors.
We have been patiently waiting for the box of Area 51 to come in, and lo and behold! Last week, Paula did a Virtual unboxing and happily revealed SEVEN new colorways for our store. She quickly cast on “I See You in Shiver” and the first thing she noticed was how even and consistent each stripe was– how satisfying!
When we take a closer look, the speckled layers in between the stripes really come through. Having a self-striping sock with a hand dyed feel is definitely something special.

Hand dyed in Canada, this self-striping yarn is delightfully colorful and robust! There are approximately four rows per stripe. The sample shown is knitted on 2.00mm needles in the round, with 64 stitches.
Fibres: 80% Superwash Merino / 20% nylon
Gauge: 28 sts = 4” / 10 cm
Weight: 2-ply Fingering (1)
Length: 100 g / 425 yards (390 m)
All self-striping yarns are dyed in four-skein batches, to ensure consistency of colours. Speckle stripes may differ from stripe-to-stripe and skein-to-skein.
Machine washable or hand wash cold. Lay flat to dry.
