A Community that Could
What started with an overflow of yarn donations has come to twelve (and counting) free fibre library boxes around the Vancouver area. It’s been a while since our last update, so read on for details on our two newest locations, grant funding deadlines, and tips to starting your own fibre library in your neighborhood!
Two New Library Locations!
We are excited to launch two more local YVR fibre library locations. One already set up on Jones Ave in North Van, and another soon to be launched at Silver Harbour Seniors Centre.
Small Neighborhood Grants
Interested in hosting your own? There are resources out there! A locally funded program– the Neighborhood Small Grants— is a great place to start. The SPRING CYCLE of funding is coming to a close soon– apply before April 30th to secure up to $500 of funding towards your next community project (but don’t worry, the FALL cycle starts in September).
Interested in applying, but need some help? Shoot us an email at baaad.annas@gmail.com
Other ways to Host
Not only is it easy to build and host a library box, you don’t have to do it yourself! Here are some of the ways others have come together to set up their fibre libraries:
- Post in a local freecycle or buy nothing group to see if anyone is selling a free library box
- Contact your nearest community center to connect with others
- Get in touch with us by email! We may be able to match you with someone willing to build a box for you
