Peek into Our Gift Box!
Last week we launched our 2024 edition of the 12 Days of Knitmas gift box, and we are now almost SOLD OUT! Only 2 left at the time I wrote this! But if you were curious what treasures you might find in these little box of presents, we are happy to finally reveal what was hidden away in our (no-longer-available) 2023 version. Last year we focused on the meaning behind community: crafting that can bring us together and how we can strengthen it. It included one of my favorite skeins ever: A DK weight rainbow self-striping yarn that I used for a sock-arms sweater in January!
Without further ado… 2023 REVEALED!
(Our 2023 Knitmas set revealed! Including a custom Be Baaad notebook and a DK weight self-striping Rainbow!!).
But if surprises aren’t your thing, we still have a small quantity of our 2022 Gift Box available in store if you are looking for a comfort gift for yourself or a fibre artist you love! Once a year I offer a reveal of our previous 12 Days Gift Boxes, and here is the 2022 reveal! You can still get your 2022 GIFT BOX HERE, which was focused on sourcing from indie makers:
(Our 2022 Knitmas set revealed! Some of my favs from last year are a BA custom colourway Lily & Pine bulky mini set with matching Yarnboler pompom, hot toddy mix with knitty mug, BA custom colourway Purlsmith fresh pearl stitch-markers and a tiny macrame kit! ).
If you have ever been curious as to what is hiding in these mysterious gift sets each year, you aren’t alone. Not even the Baaad Anna’s staff know what pieces have been chosen for each year’s set, and they are scant secrets whispered on ‘gram (under the hashtag #baaadannas12days) to hint at their hidden treasures. I got curious and made a collection of each and EVERY of our past Gift Boxes! Here is a peek into our 2021 version:
(Our 2021 Knitmas set revealed! This included a fun hat/mitt set of a custom-dyed Baaad colourway from Uschitita + a matching 50g silk/merino from Wild West Dyes and a custom matching pompom from Yarnboler. Also includes a starter weaving set, ‘You Are Loved’ labels from KATM and a hand-painted mitts ceramic ornament by an Canadian artist).
Accessibility was the theme of our 2020 Knitmas set where we included both my favorite lux yarn by Wollmeise but also a 3-skein set of Estelle’s most affordable blends, Double Knit with a Baaad Anna’s colourway beginner-level shawl pattern. We supported one of our fav neighbourhood family-owned shops, The Goods to custom print a drawstring project bag, and included gifts from other indie Canadian artists such as Nature’s Wonder, Yarnboler, Katkrinkles, Lichen & Lace, and Chester Knits.
(Our 2020 Knitmas revealed! Some of my favs from last year are the affordable shawl kit, hand-carved shawl pin, a custom drawstring project bag, and learn to needle-felt kit).
The 2019 Gift Box was focused on artisanship and included a blown-glass ornament and a beeswax mitten candle both sourced from makers at local craft fairs! Wooden tag and stitch markers, and a custom Baaad sheep notions tin from Firefly made this a truly local-indie talent focused package!
(Our 2019 Knitmas revealed! Theme for the year was a focus on local including two full skeins of Canadian yarns, a custom beeswax candle, and a local handblown glass ornament).
In 2018 we had a full set of micro-notions from Canadian talent Katkrinkles. Also I was thrilled to entice a Canadian indie-dyer, Yarn Enabler to custom dye a skein of yarn into a BA-colourway mismatched striped sock set! Striped socks are not easy to hand dye, but to achieve a mismatched set that works so beautifully was a masterpiece!
(Our 2018 Knitmas revealed! Acorn ornament, hand towels kit, beautiful wooden notions, and our special Baaad Sheep sock set!).
And our very first year of our 12 Days of Knitmas Advent included a lovely variety of my favorite notions and yarns as well as a couple fun low-commitment kits!
(Our inaugural 2017 Knitmas revealed! Local metalworked stitchmarker, both rustic and fine yarns & minis).
These have been such a fun project for me to put together each year. From sourcing and selecting new gift ideas to wrapping each by hand, the true glee comes from hearing about how some of YOU open them one by one as a countdown to the holiday celebrations, or others open their gift boxes up all at once; or how partners give these as birthday gifts for their crafty loved ones., or others of YOU purchase one for your own self-care. The very best is the anticipation that comes from opening something chosen specially for the fibre arts aficionado! And Mum’s the word… no one but me knows that the 2024 box of surprises holds but know that each of the items included was picked by a yarn lover for a yarn lover, so just find your happy place, relax and enjoy the experience!
