Big Fish Energy
You know we love a good FO flex, and this one’s got us absolutely hooked—pun very much intended.
A few weeks ago, a knitter walked into the shop, grabbed some Estelle Double Knit, and said, “Yeah, I think I’ll knit a whole dang sweater.” And then? They did. And not just any sweater—Caitlin Hunter’s Halibut Sweater, aka a bold, fish-covered masterpiece that demands attention. When our lovely customer, Clare came back into the shop last Friday wearing it we almost lost our minds.
This legend-in-the-making is part of the UBC Knitting Club and is officially in their sweater era – leveling up fast—like, “went from picking out yarn to full-on finished colorwork sweater in record time” fast. And because one sweater is never enough, they grabbed more yarn for the next project, plus a set of ChiaoGoo needles to keep the momentum going.
Estelle Dk is a perfect choice for an first sweater because it’s soft, sturdy, and just the right amount of squish. its great for colorwork (because, well, look at it) And wallet-friendly so you can knit all the sweaters
Everyone in the shop was obsessed. If you ever needed proof that sweater knitting is for everyone, here it is—just pick up your yarn and cast on.
Got an FO you’re proud of? Come show us! We live for this stuff.
What a fabulous sweater and a great story!
Thank you Susie! <3
Wow! She did a super job. Nice to see younger people taking up the needles.
Absolutely Rochelle! We have seen so many young people get involved in knitting, crochet, spinning – all the fibre arts and we love to see it!
