Project of the Month: Leela Top

There’s something about summer that makes choosing your next project feel especially meaningful. With vacation time, sunny evenings, and the occasional lakeside moment, the stakes feel high: should you cast on something easy and breezy to stitch while your mind wanders? Or finally tackle that pattern that’s been lingering in your favourites, just waiting for some uninterrupted attention?

This month’s featured project sits beautifully at the intersection of both and I’m thrilled to share it with you.

Our talented team member Janice chose the Leela Top by Caidree as her summer project, and we’ve crowned it our Project of the Month for July!

 Leela Top by Caidree

Designed by Caidree, the Leela Top is a sleeveless knit with an elegant square neckline and a subtle textured stitch that adds just the right amount of interest. It’s clean, wearable, and effortless, the kind of piece that slides easily into your wardrobe and gets worn on repeat.

What makes Janice’s version even more special is the yarn she chose: BC Garn Lino in Colour 63 Almond.

BC Garn Lino is made from 100% linen, and it’s everything we want in a summer yarn, lightweight, breathable, and just rustic enough to keep things interesting.

Linen has a crisp, dry hand when you first knit with it, but don’t be fooled. Like a beautiful linen shirt, it softens and drapes more with every wash and wear. Janice’s finished Leela Top already feels lovely, and we know it’s only going to get better over time.

We especially love this yarn for textured stitches, the Leela Top’s subtle pattern really pops thanks to linen’s sharp stitch definition. And while it may feel a little different to knit with at first (a bit firmer and less stretchy than wool), it’s cool on your hands and easy to work with once you find your rhythm.

And the colours? BC Garn Lino comes in a stunning palette of earthy neutrals and soft brights. Almond, the shade Janice chose, is a soft, sandy natural that pairs beautifully with just about anything—but we’ve got plenty of options in-store if you’re dreaming in coral, olive, or indigo.

The top is worked top-down, so it’s easy to try on as you go or adjust the length to your liking—ideal for those flexible summer knitting moments.

Janice’s finished top is currently on display in the shop, and we’d love for you to come take a look (and a feel). It’s one of those pieces that’s even better in person, especially when you can touch the yarn and browse all the gorgeous Lino colourways.
