handmade with love
There’s something about handmade Mother’s Day gifts that really do stand the test of time. Maybe it’s the slightly lopsided tissue paper flowers£, or the teapot drawings proudly magnet-ed to the fridge for months. I’m sure my own mom still has my “art” just as I keep my own kids in a big tote bag. Somewhere between being a kid and paying bills, we got tricked into thinking gifts had to come wrapped in tissue paper from a mall. Not true. The best ones are handmade.
The best part? You do not need to disappear into a crafting cave for six business days. These are the kinds of projects you can finish in one to three hours. Straight from the Ravelry favourites of our staff, here are a few beginner-friendly Mother’s Day mini projects that are charming, useful, and will still spark joy when you pull it out of a drawer again in 5 years time.
Teddy Bear Eyeglass Holder
for the mom who always looses their glasses (they’re on you’re head)
The Simple Crochet Gingham Tote Bag
for the mom who never has enough tote bags.
Daisy Flower Coasters
for the mom who always has a mug in hand
The Bisous Scrunchie
For the mom who’s getting down to business
Felted flowers
for the mom who hates emptying the compost bin (me)
All of these projects are pretty low-cost, and we have Sudz, Anthem, Drops Kid Silk and Roving in our shop if you need it. But honestly, they can also be super scrappy and homemade in the best way. Happy making!
