Kelsey’s Fluffy Ass Brioche Cardigan
We love celebrating our team’s creativity and skill, and today I’m thrilled to showcase a truly stunning project completed by our very own Kelsey: the Fluffy Ass Brioche Cardigan by Clara Eggers. This cozy and stylish piece is a testament to the beauty of working with local, breed-specific yarns, and it’s bound to inspire your next knitting adventure.
Designed by Clara Eggers, the Fluffy Ass Brioche Cardigan is as fun to make as it is to wear. The brioche stitch adds a plush, textured fabric that is both warm and striking. With its oversized fit and fluffy finish, this cardigan is perfect for layering during the cooler months, making it an instant wardrobe favorite.
Kelsey selected two exceptional yarns for this project: Disdero Ranch Bulky and GN’R Alpaca Boutique. Both yarns bring a unique character and incredible softness to the cardigan, creating a garment that’s as delightful to touch as it is to look at.
Sourced from Tappen, BC, this yarn is a true gem in the world of breed-specific wools. It’s a Lopi-style yarn, softly spun and composed of 100% Romney wool. Romney sheep produce wool that is lustrous, strong, and slightly rustic, giving the yarn a natural beauty that shines through in finished pieces. When knit up, the yarn creates a light, airy fabric that’s cozy yet breathable, perfect for blankets, sweaters, and of course, Kelsey’s fabulous cardigan.
GN’R Alpaca Boutique
This yarn adds an extra layer of luxury to the cardigan. Handspun and sourced from Oliver, BC, GN’R Alpaca Boutique offers skeins that are truly one-of-a-kind. Each bulky, 2-ply skein is either 100% alpaca or blended with wool and silk, resulting in an insanely soft and squishy yarn that’s a dream to work with. The fibers provide a subtle sheen and silky texture, making the cardigan feel like a wearable cloud.
Kelsey’s Take on the Project
Kelsey’s version of the Fluffy Ass Brioche Cardigan is a perfect blend of warmth, softness, and style. The combination of Romney wool and alpaca creates a unique texture that enhances the brioche stitch, making the cardigan feel as luxurious as it looks. The natural hues of the yarns also lend a timeless quality to the garment, ensuring it will be a favorite for years to come.
Kelsey shared that the process of knitting this cardigan was a true joy. The yarns were a delight to work with, and the pattern allowed for plenty of creative freedom, especially in combining the different fibers. The finished cardigan is not just a piece of clothing, but a celebration of local yarns and thoughtful craftsmanship.
Whether you’re inspired to try out the pattern yourself or simply looking to add more locally sourced yarns to your stash, this project is a reminder of the incredible potential that lies in every skein.
Kelsey’s cardigan is in store now to have a look at in person and pick up some of the exquisite yarns used in this project.
