Drops Air Restock

We’ve just completed a huge restock of DROPS Air, and this time we’ve brought back every color in the range! This yarn has quickly become a favorite among our customers, and it’s easy to see why.

DROPS Air is an innovative “blow yarn” made from a luxurious blend of soft baby alpaca and cozy merino wool. What makes this yarn so special is its unique construction—rather than being spun, the fibers of baby alpaca and merino wool are blown into a tube. This method results in an exceptionally light and airy yarn that’s about 30-35% lighter than traditional spun yarns of the same thickness.

Not only does DROPS Air feel like a cloud, but it’s also completely itch-free, making it perfect for anyone with sensitive skin. The softness and warmth of this yarn make it ideal for all kinds of projects, from cozy winter sweaters to lightweight accessories.

 Stockinette Tee by Svetlana Volkova

We have knitted up a beautiful sample using DROPS Air in colorway 13 Orange. The project is the Stockinette Tee by Svetlana Volkova, and it’s a perfect example of what this yarn can do. The tee is light, soft, and incredibly comfortable, thanks to the airy construction of DROPS Air. Its clean lines and seamless construction ensure a comfortable and flattering fit for all body types. The pattern is inclusive, offering sizes from 2XS to 4XL.

The tee is worked from the top down, using a seamless raglan construction. This method not only ensures a neat, polished finish but also makes it easy to try on the garment as you go, ensuring a perfect fit. Both the bottom hem and the sleeves are finished with a sleek i-cord edge.

Materials Needed:

  • Needles: US 8 (5 mm) and US 7 (4.5 mm) circular needles, long enough to work the magic loop technique.
  • Other Tools: Tapestry needle, scrap yarn, and markers for stitch placement and raglan increases.
  • Yarn: DROPS Air (70% Alpaca, 23% Polyamide, 7% Wool; 164 yards/150 meters per 50 g). Depending on the size, you’ll need approximately 4-8 skeins of yarn.

The gauge for this project is 17 stitches by 24 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette stitch after blocking. Achieving the correct gauge is crucial to ensure the tee fits as intended, so be sure to knit a swatch before starting your project.
