Beginner Inkle Loom Weaving Workshop
If you’ve never met one, the Inkle is the trickster cousin of the weaving world, compact, portable, and endlessly satisfying. You can carry it under your arm, plunk it on the table, and in minutes be making something sturdy and useful: a wrist strap, dog lead, bag handle, or that perfectly nerdy lanyard you’ll wear with pride.
It’s weaving in miniature, but make no mistake this thing is mighty. Once you get into its rhythm, you’ll start looking at everyday objects like they’re just waiting for a custom woven upgrade.
This October, we’re hosting a Beginner Inkle Loom Workshop led by the wonderful Cheryl, who’s been weaving since 2009 and has more looms than most of us have shoes.
In just four hours, Cheryl will have you designing, warping, and weaving your own custom wrist strap. A project that’s small enough to finish but big enough to show off.
Your class includes a 1-week rental of an Ashford Inklette Loom, plus all the yarn and hardware for your project. So yes, you’ll likely find yourself weaving at midnight, humming softly, convincing yourself your cat also needs a custom collar.
Sunday, October 19 | 1–5 PM
By now, half the Baaad crew has one of Cheryl’s woven wristlets dangling off their tote bags, proof that the Inkle is the perfect “gateway craft.” It’s quick, meditative, and wildly satisfying.
So come play. Bring your curiosity, your love of colour, and maybe a few spare objects that could use a handmade touch. Trust us: once you start, nothing in your house will be safe from a little woven flair.
