Spooky and Cozy October Pattern Round Up
Whew! September was an absolute whirlwind! Between the release of our new feature yarns, the yarn crawl we put on with our LYS friends, and the yarn party that was Knit City Vancouver, we are really feeling the need for some cozy fall energy. It’s time to kick up our feet and cast something on with all that new yarn!
I hope you have a nice cup of tea ready because we’ve got a little pattern round up for you today, with some patterns that have been inspiring that perfect spooky and cozy fall vibe.
We’re starting off strong with this adorable Jack O’Lantern Cat Sweater from Sarabeth Hall. Sarabeth is truly doing a huge favour to the community because this adorable sweater pattern is free! It would look great in everyone’s favourite tried and true sweater yarn: Cascade 220- we even have a Jack O’Lantern colourway.
It’s all in the name! The Cozy Classic Raglan by Jessie Maed Designs is the perfect, simple, size inclusive staple sweater for your fall wardrobe. It’s a raglan sweater I’ve made many times- it’s a tried and true favourite but is also great for beginners because of its detailed short row instructions. In order to create the sweater’s fuzzy fabric, you get to hold one fingering weight yarn with one suri or mohair lace weight. Our Mailles a Part colour range has such lovely smokey and muted options that are perfect for fall. Take a peek at their BFL Steel Sock base and their Nuage D’Alpaca base. This sweater is also a great base that you could spruce up with colourwork if you’re feeling creative. We’ve got Pacific Knit Co’s Doodle Decks which are these super fun card decks full of different colourwork options you can then put on sweaters, socks, hats, cowls- you name it!
If you’re looking for good old fashioned Halloween fun in the form of knit socks, then Stone Knit’s Spooky Sock Collection has you covered! I especially love the little witches. We have so many new sock yarns in and more will be trickling on to the floor as we settle deeper into fall.
Sometimes you have to keep your yarn cozy too. With your sock scraps, why not knit a yarn cozy? Knitt Natty’s Mini Yarn Cozy pattern is great for keeping your caked up skeins looking clean and pretty (on a small side note- did you see Knitty Knatty’s youtube video that featured Baaad Anna’s?)! Each one of these little guys can be made using scrap or a mini-skein of fingering weight yarn.
