Project of the Month: Haiku Slouchy Hat
Two months in a row we are featuring a super quick and ultra affordable hat knit! To start the year off we have a beginner-intermediate (think: level up from a practiced beginner) pattern that has beautiful stitch definition with a complimentary fit. The Haiku Slouchy Hat by Char Kohl held some magic over me.

You may have read that once I knit this hat, I could not stop knitting it because it had such a rhythmic pull. The pattern is easy to memorize which, for me, increases its therapeutic value and each hat took me only one evening of knitting so it also provided some instant gratification! Its also one of those rare patterns that is has been overlooked on Ravelry but very well written with links to tutorials for additional reference.

I first paired it with one of our most affordable, easy-care chunky yarn options: Estelle Chunky which is a lightweight chunky/bulky weight (#5) superwash wool/acrylic blend yarn.

Fibres: 50% Acrylic / 40% Wool / 10% Nylon
Gauge: 14 stitches = 4 inches (10 cm)
Needles: 6.0 mm (US 10)
Weight: Chunky (5)
Length: 100 g / 137 yards (125 m)
I used just under one full skein making it a very accessible knit! And not to mention that when paired with Estelle Bulky‘s superwash easy-care yarns it creates a fantastic gift for knitters and non-knitters alike, with a slouch that suits everybody!
