Tourist Friendly FAQs, Welcome to Baaad Anna’s and Hastings-Sunrise!
It’s officially June, which means we get to start welcoming our summer tourists! This year, with the Big Soccer Event, we’re expecting to welcome more visitors than usual so we thought we would compile a list of frequently asked questions and some information about the neighbourhood for visitors.

- What are your hours?
This is the question we get asked the most over the phone, and the answer is every day, 11-6. Even on Canada Day, even during August long weekend, even over Labour Day weekend. We are open every day this summer, regular hours!

2. What kind of yarns do you carry? Why should we visit you?
All of the yarn stores in Vancouver’s lower mainland are great, and we encourage you to visit as many as you can. We’re all a little bit different in what we carry, and Baaad Anna’s specializes in local, hand-dyed yarn. We support over 50 other small businesses in our store, and many of those are British Columbia based hand dyers and spinners. We have yarn from sheep who live in BC that was dyed in BC, we have yarn that was dyed by someone who lives less than 3km from the store, we even carry project bags made by someone who lives in the neighbourhood. At BAYS we love local, and our actions match our values.

3. What’s the vibe, I’ve heard yarn stores can be intimidating?
We have heard from new makers and veterans, time and time again, that we are an incredibly welcoming space. We are a team of kind, friendly and knowledgable staff and we are looking forward to meeting you and helping find that replacement needle you forgot to pack or that souvenir skein that will help you remember your trip!

4. Where are you located?
BAYS is in a neighbourhood called Hastings-Sunrise (You can read about the history of the neighbourhood here). We’re just west of the Hastings-Slocan intersection, across from the Hastings Public Library. We’re easy to get to on the bus from downtown and about a 12-15min cab ride, depending on the traffic and time of day.
5. Do you have a washroom? What about a place where my spouse can sit while I shop?
Yes and yes! We do have a very comfortable “spouse chair” but we’ll do you one better, there’s a great local book store next door to us called Iron Dog Books, they have an awesome selection and are a great place to pass the time.
There’s actually a lot of great spots in the area to check out, you should definitely look at the East Village Business Directory before you stop by.
I hope that was helpful for our visitors, but if you have any more questions please drop us a comment and we’ll get back to as soon as we can. You can always give us a call or email if you need help with anything specific!
