Worldwide Knit in Public Day 2026
Every year on the second Saturday in June, knitters, crocheters, spinners, weavers, and fibre weirdos take their projects out into the world for Worldwide Knit in Public Day. This year it falls on June 13th 2026.
For one day, fibre artists gather in parks, cafés, libraries, breweries to do exactly what they would normally do at home.. make things. The difference is that this time we’re doing it where people can see us.
What started in 2005 as a simple idea has grown into the largest knitter-run event in the world, with events taking place in dozens of countries every year. But this day isn’t really just about knitting. It’s about visibility. It’s about showing that making things by hand still matters (even more so now days!). That skills passed from one person to another still matter. That creativity doesn’t need an algorithm, a battery, or a subscription service.
This weekend, we challenge you to take your fibre arts into the wild. Bring your knitting to the beach. Crochet on the soccer pitch. Spin at the park. Embroider in a café. Make something where people can see it. Then send us proof.
Tag us on Instagram or email us a photo of your project in a Public space. We’d love to share your favourite knitting spots and celebrate the wonderfully visible community of people making things by hand. The more unhinged the better!!
Here is a list of some of our favourite places to knit in public.
1. At the lake.

2. At a brewery.

4. On the ferry.

5. By the pool.

6. On a bus.

7. In the wilderness..?

8. On a patio.

9. In another brewery!

10. At the races.
