New Spring Classes: Speed Knitting, Intermediate Weaving and More…

We are offering some brand new classes at Baaad Anna’s that we are pretty excited about!

If you’re trying your hand at bigger projects this year, you might consider Liisa Nieminen’s Speed Knitting class which will whip you into shape for producing at record speeds. Liisa is an award-winning speed knitter with a current record of 238 stitches in 3 minutes and she will teach the continental method of knitting, and share tips and techniques that will help increase your own knitting speed! (Also check out the video on the link above… that’s some speedy knitting!).

DATE: Mondays, April 18 (pt 1) & 25 (pt 2) and May 2 (pt 3) from 6:30-8:30pm

Anyone interested in experimenting with beyond beginner weaving Nicola, our favorite fibre whisperer, has been developing Intermediate Weaving modules which will be 3 hour classes which can be taken as a course, or individually. Using Ashford Knitters Looms she will be building the beginners skill set to expand your artistic horizons. Here is the first of this series:

INTERMEDIATE RIGID HEDDLE WEAVING WORKSHOP: Pick-up Pattern Basics on the Rigid Heddle Loom

Getting tired of plain old tabby weave? The rigid heddle loom holds many more possibilities than one might think! One of the ways to unlock them is to use pick-up sticks, these simple tools let you easily control multiple warp threads at once to create hundreds of patterns and thousands of combinations for beautiful fabric.

In this workshop you will create a sampler to learn how to use pick-up sticks to create patterned fabrics using weft and warp floats. We will also go over how to read pick-up patterns and start you thinking about all the design possibilities now at your fingertips.
