Warm Things Drive Continues

Over the years we have collected and distributed thousands of handknit and crocheted items throughout the community. In the early years this was through a designated event called a Warm Things Drive that usually started in late Nov and went through the holidays. Nowadays we accept donations year round on a rolling basis, sort them according to the best match with recipients’ needs and share them with directly with the community, or through non-profit partners/organizations that align with this mandate.

You, our community, have helped bring scarves and hats to those in need in the Downtown East Side, knitted knockers to hospitals and cancer centres for distribution, blanket squares to volunteers stitchers, and many many other recipients. We also collect, sort and distribute yarn, tools and other fibre art materials, upcycling under-loved possessions to people who put them to use.

We have craft kits for classroom loans, high-end fibre art equipment for low-barrier rental, and resources on our website of various ways to bring fibre arts into your community. Please feel free to reach out if you have additional ideas you would like to share, as we love to see how ideas springboard into action. We are not here to do it all, but to encourage each one of us to take a hand in creating a more vibrant fibre arts community. Thank you for letting us come along for the ride!
