As our beloved little Yarn Store turns 15, we’re celebrating with a Sweater Make-A-Long (MAL) that invites everyone to join the fun, whether you’re near or far! Running from August 28 to October 23, 2024, this 8-week event is the perfect way to mark a milestone year while crafting something cozy.

Our Make-A-Long theme is simple: SWEATERS! Whether you’re knitting or crocheting, we want to see your best sweater work. I encourage you to take full advantage of our 15th Anniversary Sale this weekend, August 24-25, 2024! Check out all the details here. So whether you’re working with yarn from a past purchase or something new from our current offerings. Whether you’re diving into our sweater MAL or haven’t quite mastered a sweater pattern yet, this celebration is for everyone. Your continued support means the world to us, and we want all of our baaadies to feel a part of this milestone—no matter where you are in your crafting journey!

The best part? You can participate from anywhere! Just share your progress on social media using the hashtag #baaadsweaterMAL and tag us @baaadannas to be part of the community. Whether you’re across town or across the globe, you can knit along with fellow fibre enthusiasts and celebrate our anniversary together.

How the MAL works:

The pattern is entirely up to you—choose something new or return to an old favourite, the point is that we’re all working on our sweaters together. We’ll also welcome a Work-In-Progress if you have just started a sweater, or need the motivation to pull that WIP out of the closet that you cast on a few months *cough* years *cough* ago. Each week we’ll work towards our sweater milestones, so that by the time the weather turns cold, we’ll have completed sweaters to keep us warm! Here is the plan for each week of the MAL:

Week 1 – Up to August 28: Pick your yarn and your pattern. Make your swatches (don’t forget to block them!)
Week 2 – August 28 – September 3: Cast On!
Week 3 – September 4 – 10: Body of the sweater 1/4 finished
Week 4 – September 10 – 23: Body 1/2 finished
Week 5 – September 23 – October 1: Body 3/4 finished
Week 6 – October 2 – 8: Body fully finished (woohoo!)
Week 7 – October 9 – 15: Sleeves, cuffs, finishing details
Week 8 – October 16 – 23: Bind Off! Weave in the ends, block, and share!

Prizes Galore!

To make things even more exciting, we’ll be giving away prizes throughout the MAL – 15 prizes for our 15th anniversary!

Every Tuesday, we’ll announce the week’s prize, and every Thursday, we’ll draw the winner. All entries will roll over each week, so the more you participate, the more chances you have to win the grand prize—a $150 gift certificate—to be drawn on Friday, October 25th! Entries are cumulative, so the more you participate, the better your chances of winning.

Here’s how you can earn entries:

1. 1x entry: Post a story or Instagram post tagging Baaad Anna’s with your MAL progress (1 entry per week). If your account is private, send us a screenshot via DM.
2. 2x entries: Buy a sweater quantity of yarn from Baaad Anna’s.
3. 1x entry: Attend our in-person knit nights.
4. 2x entries: Post a finished MAL sweater.
5. 2x entries: Bring your finished sweater to the store to show off!

Knit Nights at Baaad Anna’s

For those local to Vancouver, we’re hosting in-person Knit Nights every Wednesday during the MAL, starting September 4th and running until October 23rd. There won’t be a knit night on August 28th, so mark your calendars to cast on your projects before the first one on September 4th!
