Three Seasons Cardigan – A Timeless Knit with Fireweed Tweed
As the weather cools and we transition through the seasons, there’s nothing quite like wrapping yourself in the warmth of a handmade cardigan. We’re excited to introduce you to the Three Seasons Cardigan by Wool & Pine, a beautifully versatile piece that’s perfect for layering through autumn, winter, and spring. This cardigan is designed to be your go-to for effortless style and comfort, making it a wardrobe staple you’ll reach for again and again.
The Three Seasons Cardigan is a seamless, top-down knit featuring a classic open-front design that’s both timeless and chic. Its relaxed fit and subtle shaping make it flattering on a variety of body types, while the textured stitch patterns add depth and visual interest. With a cozy shawl collar and long sleeves, this cardigan is designed to keep you warm while still feeling light and breathable, making it ideal for wearing across multiple seasons.
For this project Sarah chose chose Fireweed Tweed in the colorway Black Emerald—a luxurious, hand-dyed yarn from Winnipeg, Manitoba. This yarn is a blend of 85% superwash merino and 15% Donegal neps, resulting in a fabric that’s incredibly soft, squishy, and has outstanding stitch definition. The Donegal neps—small flecks of fiber in neutral colors—add a delightful texture to the yarn, giving your finished cardigan a rustic yet refined appearance. The superwash merino makes this yarn incredibly soft against the skin, making it a pleasure to wear. The high twist of Fireweed Tweed ensures that every stitch pops, showcasing the textured patterns of the Three Seasons Cardigan beautifully.

One of the most exciting aspects of knitting with hand-dyed yarn like Fireweed Tweed is the subtlety and depth of color. Each skein is unique, with delicate variations that flow smoothly through the fabric, creating a piece that’s truly one-of-a-kind. The Black Emerald colorway is particularly stunning, with its deep, jewel-toned hues that evoke the lushness of a forest at dusk.
