Spin Me Right Round
There’s something truly special about handspun yarn. Maybe it’s the way it holds the memory of every twist and draft, or how each skein feels like a little piece of the maker’s story. Some of my favorite yarns in the shop are handspun—Judith’s skeins always get the most admiration, and for good reason. There’s just nothing like it.
If you’ve ever wanted to try spinning your own yarn but weren’t sure where to start, this is your chance! Our Drop Spindle Spinning Workshop is the perfect introduction to this timeless craft.
I get it—spinning can feel a little intimidating at first. But with just a spindle, some fiber, and a bit of guidance, you’ll be surprised at how quickly you get the hang of it. In this two-hour class, you’ll:
– Learn the basics of drafting and spinning.
-Try your hand at creating a single-ply yarn
– Get hands-on practice with a beginner-friendly spindle
By the end of class, you’ll have your very own handspun yarn—and the knowledge to keep spinning on your own!
To make sure you’re set up for success, every participant will receive:
An Ashford Student Top Whorl Spindle (a fantastic beginner spindle)
50 grams of Corriedale wool (in your choice of color!)
Ruth will guide you through each step, from fiber prep to finished yarn, so you leave with confidence and a new obsession—I mean, hobby.
