DAY 17: A perfect season to celebrate halos! Play with textures by trying out some gorgeous mohair/silk, alpaca/nylon, or mohair/merino combos to lighten up your handknits while increasing the warmth factor! DAY 14: Your kitchen can house both talented local workmanship and a work of art that will also be the last tea towel you would ever need. Handwoven by members of the Selkirk Weavers & Spinners guild these gorgeous cotton towels absorb while uplifting your kitchen. Machine-washable, they only improve with use! DAY 13: Need a last-minute spoilage of your local yarn lover? Check out our 4th annual countdown to the holidays: Baaad Anna’s 12 Days of Knitmas! Each year we hand wrap one dozen presents for the fibre artist curated by a fibre artist which can be opened daily for the lead up to the holidays advent-style, or just as an all-in-one present celebrating self-care or a loved one. This yarn works so beautifully for almost any project which makes it an easy gift for the fibre artist in your life if you want to support an indie local dyer. DAY 10: No holiday list is complete without an assortment of fantastic fibre art stocking stuffers, or little just-cause gifts. DAY 5: We are so honoured to partner with local fibre artist Rebecca Glazier of Wild West Dye works who also is one of our much-loved knitting, dyeing and crochet teachers! She works solely with natural dyes and offers her pretty yarn caked in 25g, 50g, or 100g pre-wound balls so the knitter or crocheter only need purchase the amount needed for a project! Her colours are deep and consistent, and her bases are wonderful; there is nothing we don’t love about this New Westminster-based artist. And did I mention she also designs? We have a number of her amazing self-designed kits with the precise amount of yarn you need to make them; from rainbow stroller blankets, cowls, pillows and shawls. DAY 2: There’s no better way to finish off a hand knit hat then finding the perfect pom pom for its crown! Local maker, Janet of Yarnboler from just over the bridge from our shop makes the most beautiful faux fur pompoms that would allow you to follow your heart and pompom EVERYTHING! DAY 1: An amazing kit for any beginner-intermediate knitter. Andrea Mowry’s Nightshift is a fantastic colourwork shawl, great for even someone new to colourwork as it uses simple slip stitches to dance with colours. Originally designed for the barber pole, handspun-style yarns such as Spincycle, Cascade yarns offers a much more affordable alternative with their Cascade 220 Wave colourways and even put together kits to make this entire shawl!
