Visible Mending Workshop with Heather Cameron
We love sharing fun and interesting fibre arts opportunities in our community!
This month, Vancouver’s-own Playwrights Theatre Centre has partnered with The Public Swoon for UNSCRIPTED: Mermaid Spring, a Visible Mending Workshop with Heather Cameron free and in-person on March 20th, 2022 at 3 pm PST.
Mermaid Spring is a musical-project focused on deep co-creation, slow process & social handcraft. The story is inspired by Weeki Wachee Springs, Florida –– a real-life natural attraction where since 1947, women have worked as professional mermaids. The story follows a group of women hustling to hold on to their dream jobs in natural landscapes that are threatened by development.
As part of UNSCRIPTED, the creators behind Mermaid Spring, The Public Swoon, will offer an in-person (socially distanced and PPE available) visible mending workshop led by textile artist Heather Cameron (read our interview with the artist here)
We’re reaching out to folks like you to invite handcraft, makers, arts, music and sustainability advocate communities to attend this free workshop and come together after this time of isolation during the pandemic.
You can register for the workshop here. More information on UNSCRIPTED: Mermaid Spring can be found on PTC’s website.
