Class is back in session

As the leaves begin to turn and the temperatures start to dip, there’s no better time to embrace the warmth and creativity that comes with fiber arts. Fall at Baaad Anna’s is all about cozying up with a new skill, whether you’re picking up knitting needles for the first time, revisiting your crochet hook, or learning the art of spinning your own yarn. Our fall classes are designed to inspire, educate, and bring together a community of makers who share a love for handmade crafts

Whether you’re a total beginner or looking to expand your skills, we have a class for you this season. Here’s a look at what’s on offer:

Beginner Crochet Class

Never crocheted before or looking for a refresher? Our Beginner Crochet Class is the perfect place to start. Over a few hours, you’ll learn the foundational stitches, including the foundation chain, slip stitch, single crochet, and double crochet. By the end of the class, you’ll have created a crochet flower face scrubby—a perfect introduction to the craft! You’ll also receive class support videos to help you practice at home.

  • Dates: December 8
  • Materials: 5mm crochet hook, 50g ball of Sudz Cotton, darning needle (available at Baaad Anna’s)

Granny Square Crochet Workshop

Granny squares are a wonderful next-step project once you’ve mastered the basics of crochet. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to crochet in the round, turn corners, and join squares together—skills that can be applied to an endless array of projects, from blankets to bags to sweaters.

  • Dates: October 6, November 8, December 14
  • Materials: 5mm crochet hook, 50g of three different colors of worsted weight yarn, darning needle (available at Baaad Anna’s)

Beginner Knitting Class

If you’ve always wanted to learn how to knit, this is the class for you. Over four weeks, you’ll learn the essential techniques, including casting on and off, the knit stitch, the purl stitch, basic increases and decreases, and finishing skills. By weeks three and four, you’ll be applying your new knowledge to create knit stitch-sampler hand warmers—your first handmade project!

  • Dates: November 5, 12, 19 & 26
  • Materials Included: 5.00mm bamboo needles, 100g of Cascade 220 worsted weight yarn, locking stitch markers, darning needle, Churchmouse Stitch-Sampler Pattern.

On The C Train Hat Class

If you already have basic knitting skills and are looking to take the next step, our On The C Train Hat class is perfect for you. You’ll learn to knit a classic ribbed toque, covering techniques like determining the perfect length and fit, shaping the crown, and adding a brim. By the end, you’ll have a cozy hat that’s perfect for the chilly months ahead or as a thoughtful handmade gift.

  • Dates: September 25 & October 2
  • Materials Needed: Worsted weight yarn, lace weight mohair or aran weight yarn, 4.5mm and 5mm circular knitting needles, DPNs for crown shaping, stitch markers, darning needle (available at Baaad Anna’s)

Drop Spindle Spinning Workshop

For those interested in the ancient art of spinning, our Drop Spindle Spinning Workshop is a must. In just two hours, you’ll learn how to spin a single-ply yarn using a drop spindle, with a focus on various drafting techniques. This workshop offers a basic introduction to the process of spinning your own yarn from start to finish.

  • Dates: September 21, October 26, November 30
  • Materials Included: Ashford Student Top Spindle, 50 grams of Corriedale wool in the color of your choice
